Liquid variable for attendee session dates in recurring events

Currently, confirmation email and PDF ticket templates only allow access to event-level date variables such as {{ event.start_at }} and {{ event.end_at }}. When an event is set up with recurring sessions, these variables always return the overall event start date rather than the specific occurrence or session that the attendee registered for.


This makes it difficult to include accurate messaging in confirmation emails, such as:
“Your session begins on [date],” because the template cannot reference the attendee’s selected occurrence.


It would be very helpful if there was a Liquid variable for pulling a specific recurring occurrence associated with an attendee’s registration.

This would allow organizers running camps, workshops, and multi-session programs to automatically display the correct session date in confirmation emails.

Is this something you would consider adding in a future update?

    You can actually pull the specific occurrence tied to an attendee’s registration using attendee-level variables rather than the event-level ones. These return the start and end time of the exact session the attendee registered for, rather than the overall event date.

    Here are a few variables you can use in confirmation emails or PDF ticket templates:

    Recurring event start date and time

    {{ attendee.event_start_at | date: "%B %e, %Y %I:%M %p" }}

    Recurring event end date and time

    {{ attendee.event_end_at | date: "%B %e, %Y %I:%M %p" }}

    Additional useful variations:

    • {{ attendee.event_start_at | date: "%B %e, %Y %l:%M %P" }} – Attendee event start date & time

    • {{ attendee.event_end_at | date: "%B %e, %Y %l:%M %P" }} – Attendee event end date & time

    • {{ attendee.event_start_at_date | date: "%B %e, %Y" }} – Attendee event start date only

    • {{ attendee.event_end_at_date | date: "%B %e, %Y" }} – Attendee event end date only

    You can also access other attendee-specific details if needed:

    • {{ attendee.all_day_event }} – Boolean if the event is all day

    • {{ attendee.event_has_location }} – Boolean if a location exists

    • {{ attendee.event_location_type }} – "online", "transit", or "physical"

    • {{ attendee.event_location_name }} – Venue name

    • {{ attendee.virtual_event_url }} – Online event link

    • {{ attendee.ticket_code }} – Ticket number/code

    • {{ attendee.ticket.title }} – Ticket type

    • {{ attendee.seat_label }} – Seat information (if applicable)

    • {{ attendee.add_to_calendar_google_url }} – Google Calendar link

    • {{ attendee.add_to_calendar_outlook_url }} – Outlook Calendar link

    Using the attendee.event_start_at and attendee.event_end_at variables should allow you to include messaging like:

    “Your session begins on [date]”

    with the correct session date for the attendee’s selected occurrence.
